It's Raining (or Snowing) Men

Molly had a good weekend with some of her male admirers. Her Uncle Greg came to visit on Saturday and while Molly was on a poop strike and a bit fussy, we still had a good time walking in the woods and making brunch.

On Sunday, we celebrated Liz's birthday and the moms went a movie while the dads watched the babes and toddlers. Molly did very well and thanks her dad for taking good care of her. Here's a tribute to dad (and proof that Molly has an "I Love Dad" shirt as well as an "I Love Mom" shirt that her pop thinks she wears a little too often).

Smiles and Stretches

Molly is smiling more and more these days, although it's hard to catch them on camera. She was enjoying her floor time today, though, and giving me lots of chances to grab some pictures. I had to move quickly on one of them so it's a little blurry... sorry.

She's been good at stretching since the beginning but I don't get tired of giggling at these.

Big Win

Molly enjoyed watching the Pats win the AFC Championship on Sunday. John was also pretty happy. I think that might have more to do with his success at Guitar Hero than anything else.

Happy Birthday

Nana visited us over this weekend and took good care of all of us. She cooked up a storm and held Molly lots. We were snowed in on Monday so we couldn't show her a really exciting time but it was so nice to have her here. She showed us the baby shuffle, an effective dance step/bounce combo that calms a fussy baby down in a heartbeat.

It's also Molly's one month birthday today. She celebrated with a trip out to the woods and another snowshoeing adventure. She was an especially tough cookie since her booty fell off, which I didn't realize until a nice skier gave it back to me. She was shoeless for a while and didn't make a peep. Thankfully, it was warm out today and she was well snuggled.

The Future

Molly's aunt Holly is a great mentor and sent Molly a t-shirt that predicted her future career choice. Mysterio is actually the one who does the predicting and I think it's based on what the universe ordains. I can see her being a dog show judge... yup. Molly seems a little unsure, though.

Story Time

Molly has hosted some visitors this week and they've all been kind enough to read to her. She's enjoyed the stories and being held and snuggled. Additionally, Samuel was a good pal and showed Molly how un-toddler-proof her house is. You may not be able to see Beth's bump, but kiddo #2 is in there and she got a chance to see what life with a toddler and a newborn is going to be like. She's a mothering champ, though, and will be fine (and very fit!)

Shhhhh...

I just thought this was cute.

The Finer Points of Life

Molly is already showing her sophisticated side. She is learning to appreciate some of the finer points of life. While this is by no means an exhaustive list, it is representative of some of the good stuff that she likes. I expect she'll soon be on to commenting on a fine pinot noir, enjoying a luxurious cashmere sweater, or pontificating on why it is clear that Roger did use a little extra juice to achieve his super case of bacne. Okay, maybe the last one isn't so much about the finer points of life but she also likes current events.

Anyway, onto Molly's list of new experiences:

This is one of my favorites and her dad's least favorites: baby jeans. Seriously, what is cuter than a pair of baby jeans? John thinks that if we buy baby jeans then we can't send Molly to college. You be the judge. I also like this picture (and probably many subsequent pictures) because of Molly's old man pants look. Her cloth diapers give her a little booty so her pants ride unfortunately high. We think it's worth a few giggles.

Tummy time is pretty fun and Molly is showing her appreciation for the promotion of a global economy with toys from all over the world. On the show off front, she has started being able to turn her head from one side to the other and getting good neck control. I think this means that she'd like to be a professional baseball pitcher and she's looking at first and third, just daring the runners at the corner to steal. I also think I'm projecting a lot onto a three week old. The good news is that she won't remember this anyway.

Molly has learned about the benefits of a holistic approach to good health and has started enjoying massages from her live-in masseuse. Not a bad gig for Dad and it's convenient when you're small enough to fit onto a Boppy.

Cousins

Molly is very lucky (and excited) to have a bunch of cousins, currently all girls, and is anxiously awaiting meeting her Doyle cousins, Rebecca and Katy. Her Gerbi cousins were able to visit with her in the hospital and over Christmas and I thought I'd post all the pictures of the three girls. Erin is a very busy four year old so a sleeping infant wasn't as intriguing as bigger people who can play with her. She did, however, create a lovely tune when Molly's umbilical cord fell off and she found that process fascinating. Megan, as mentioned in the last post, was very interested in holding Molly and the number of pictures demonstrate her willingness to cuddle. Some of these have been posted before, but we were also able to get some new ones and caught Molly's Auntie Aimee catching some snuggles too.

Happy new year and we wish everyone a happy and healthy 2008!
