Do a Little Dance

Molly's getting her groove on.

Hmmm... not sure who this "daddy" character is.

Hey! What's going on?

In other news (where I'm not making stuff up about what Molly is or is not thinking), she loves to laugh when someone else is laughing. You sound like a lunatic or the Joker from Batman but if you fake laugh at her she goes nuts and laughs back. It's really funny... and pretty soon you're really laughing because she's so happy.

Friends and Cousins and Parties... Oh My!

We had another play date with Samuel and Ethan this past week and it's amazing how quickly everyone is growing up. We attempted to get some pictures with all three kids but while Sammy was all for sitting and holding Molly, Ethan had another agenda and wasn't as keen on anything stationary.

We also had a family birthday party for Molly's Grammy and her cousin Erin this weekend. Her cousin Megan continues to be enamored with Molly and was so proud of herself when Molly was fussing and she was able to calm her right down by brushing her hair.

Erin was as busy and funny as usual but found some time to hold Molly. She also had lots to teach us about the solar system and continents. I got schooled on the moons of Saturn and Jupiter.

John also got into the party spirit
And finally... here's Miss Molly waking up from a nap. No stretching but she's playing pensive baby.

We're looking forward to visiting with another of Molly's cousins next week when Molly goes on her first plane trip to Arizona and then to Florida. She's excited to meet some more of her aunts and uncles as well as her cousin Katy. I'm sure a story and picture or two will come out of that trip!

California Dreamin'... Newburyport Style

So, Molly's first trip to the beach wasn't exactly on your typical sunshiny day. There were no people laying out, no BBQs going, and the smell of sunscreen was most definitely absent. Nonetheless, it was an atypical February New England day, about sixty degrees, and we were itching to leave the house so we headed to Plum Island and walked a bit. The proximity to Plum Island is one of my favorite things about living up here in Canada... uh, I mean Newburyport. I prefer the beach in the spring and fall because there are few people, its a great place to walk, and the landscape is beautiful (and I hate the heat). Molly isn't a big fan of the wind so we haven't really ventured out there (I don't count the time I got out of the car, strapped her in the pack, where she promptly screamed bloody murder so I put her back in her seat and drove home). She's getting to be a big girl, though, because she tolerated it yesterday.

We had lots of grandparent visiting last week. It was especially lucky timing because John and I got hit with one of the nasty winter viruses that is making the rounds this year. Molly had a brief bout with it early in the week but managed to avoid the fever, congestion, cough, aches and pains with which we got slammed. Luckily, Nana and Grampa had a visit already planned and Grammy came at the end of the week so we got taken care of and Molly had a much better time with them than with us. We all thank them VERY much.

Other highlights of the week included Molly getting her first round of vaccinations, which she took better than I did. She was a champ. She cried when she got the shots and then was fine as soon as John picked her up off the table.

The Divine Miss M

Molly was a snuggler yesterday, which was good because the wind was out of control and it was better to be inside than out.

She loves looking at herself in the mirror and tends to be happiest doing that during back or belly time. Hopefully this doesn't turn into an obsession. I'm not sure you can see the mirror in the picture but trust me, it's there.

Bonding

I'm not sure how this is comfortable but Molly has been asleep for close to an hour like this.

This is from earlier today and I think it looks like Molly has a secret to tell.

Good Times

Molly and I attended Mommy and Me yoga this morning. She did more fussing than yoga and when she wasn't fussing she was chatting. For those of you who have seen 27 Dresses it was like when Casey loudly talked to Jane throughout their entire yoga class (and I swear the Molly also said "there's not a sign that says no talking"). Nevertheless, it was fun.

This afternoon is a little snowy and chilly so we've stayed in and sung each other songs. Molly doesn't care that I can't stay on pitch or that I make up the words when I can't remember the real ones (or come up with something phonetically similar). I think her dad should do the formal music education but I suffice for now.

I love when Molly wakes up from sleeping and I caught her waking up from a snooze today. Hee hee.

Peacefully sleeping...

Fine, I'll wake up...

Ahhh! the paparazzi...

How'd I get here?...

Now, this is fun!

More Smiles

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. We've been doing lots of fun things lately and Molly has been busy growing. Here are some recent smile pictures of the babe.

We've been out visiting people as well. Molly and I spent a night on the Cape visiting with her great aunt and uncle and cousin Abby.

We also watched the Pats get crushed at Aaron's house. New territory was explored that night as...

Aaron held Molly with no crying (from either of them) and...

questions were asked about whether people in their 30s should really be playing Guitar Hero in mullet wigs.
