Well, hello Seattle. It's nice that you're living up to your rainy reputation. In these sorts of situations, I can only think of one way to manage the drizzle: a big round of puddle stomping. Jack, of course, takes any opportunity to puddle stomp whether or not he's geared up. The muddier the puddle, the more satisfying the stomp, in his opinion. My bigger one, on the other hand, likes to shout through the rain, telling Jack to keep out of the puddles and then to tell me that he's in them again, all while absent-mindedly walking into the middle of a stream or small lake of rain water. Focus is not my oldest's strong suit... So, bring the rain, Seattle. You're awfully good at it (plus we're off to Florida this week so we've got a stream of sunlight in our very near future).
The excitement builds...
drippy hugs
"look ma, a deep puddle right here in front of my house"
(it's actually our water meter but it is a really nice, muddy, sloppy hole)
stomp, stomp, stomp
and repeat
rainy smiles
the river runs through our street
someone is not so sure about someone else's frolicking...
so, she takes control
the two-footed splash
the more delicate alternating prance
another water meter hole...
mega jump
yup, you're really wet now
really, really wet
examining the cavernous hole in the sidewalk puddle
can't go over it, can go under it, must go through it
or maybe you can get over it...
Happy rain!
